2024 Chevrolet Silverado HD: What We Know So Far
What's bigger, the Silverado HD's dual screens or its trailer-towing ability?

Further blurring the line between work trucks and high-end luxury models, the revamped 2024 Chevrolet Silverado HD pairs heavy-hauling ability with a cabin that can be heavy on tech.
This early 2024 model continues to stray further from the more-popular, but less-capable Silverado 1500, which saw a major update during the 2022 model year. Let’s have a look at the 2024 Silverado HD.

2024 Chevrolet Silverado HD: Performance
Two powerful engine options allow the Silverado HD to lug massive trailers. The two 6.6-liter V8 engine options may seem similar at first glance, but their only real likeness is in their displacement. The standard gas V8 pushes 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque to the ground via a new 10-speed automatic transmission developed by big-rig gearbox-builder Allison. That same transmission also comes with the optional turbo-diesel V8, which ups the ante to 470 horsepower and a stump-tugging 975 pound-feet of torque. That’s a lot of torque, but it doesn’t quite match the 2023 Ford F-Series Super Duty’s available 1,200 lb-ft rating.
Chevy says the Silverado HD will be capable of lugging a 36,000-pound, fifth-wheel trailer when fitted with the optional Max Tow package and the turbo-diesel, though that headline-grabbing figure applies only to regular cab, rear-wheel-drive models. Crew cabs with the diesel and four-wheel drive rate a still-hefty 20,000 pounds when properly optioned.
To make trailer towing less stressful, Chevy will offer an adaptive cruise control system tailored specifically to account for the heft and drag of a load. The available blind-spot monitoring system can also account for the size of a trailer, too.

2024 Chevrolet Silverado HD: Technology
A screen-heavy dash that debuted on the 2022 Silverado 1500 now makes its way to higher-end versions of the heavy-duty models. Included on LT, LTZ, and High Country trim levels, the dashboard includes a wide 13.4-inch touchscreen, plus a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster in front of the driver.
The big screen in the center of the dash houses some high-tech software, including Google Assistant for voice commands and a Google Maps interface not unlike what you might find on a smartphone or a tablet. However, using Google’s services will require an extra-cost data subscription.
Other tech options include a wireless device charging pad and a head-up display, while automatic emergency braking joins the standard features list for 2024.

2024 Chevrolet Silverado HD: Pricing and availability
The 2024 Silverado HD hits the market in the first half of 2023, though Chevy is yet to release a more specific time frame. An off-road-oriented ZR2 version is slated to arrive in late 2023.
We don’t know what the 2024 Silverado HD will cost, though it’s unlikely to stray far from the 2023 model. The outgoing Silverado HD starts at about $43,000, though a huge range of trim levels, body configurations, and the turbo-diesel V8 can add tens of thousands to that figure.
