Compared: 2022 Audi e-tron GT vs. 2022 Porsche Taycan
High-performance German luxury electric cars battle for peak range, best value.
Porsche | Audi
Electric cars have moved far from the awkward econoboxes of early EVs. They're often luxurious, high-performance, design-forward vehicles. Two of the most cutting-edge examples are the 2022 Audi e-tron GT and the 2022 Porsche Taycan, offering similar levels of performance and range at similar prices.
Porsche
2022 Porsche Taycan Has a Cheaper Base Option Than the Audi
While the Porsche might seem like the more expensive option, it's actually less expensive in base form, starting in the low $80,000 range. Compare that to the Audi e-tron GT's base price of more than $103,000. If you compare the top-tier models, however, the Porsche is the more expensive option, at almost $187,000 to the RS e-tron GT's nearly $144,000.
Some key extras for the e-tron GT include the performance package, which includes steering, wheel, torque vectoring, and appearance upgrades, and the driver-assistance package, which adds adaptive cruise control with lane guidance. The Taycan offers a Premium package, including a fixed panoramic glass roof, Bose audio, and more. More a-la-carte options are available for the Taycan, such as further performance upgrades and driver-assistance technology.

Both Models Are Quick
Both the 2022 e-tron GT and the 2022 Taycan are quick in their top-spec forms, and even their base models are electric-car quick with lots of low-end torque. The Audi e-tron with Boost Mode can briefly increase output to 522 horsepower and 472 pound-feet. Top speed for the e-tron GT in base form is 152 mph, and it hits 60 mph in 3.6 seconds. All versions of the e-tron GT come standard with Quattro all-wheel drive.
The 2022 Taycan's base model starts with a relatively low 321-hp output, but Launch Control with Overboost ups that to 402 horsepower. The base Taycan 4S sprints to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds, with a top speed of 155 mph. The top-tier Taycan Turbo S packs a smashing peak output of 750 horsepower and 774 lb-ft of torque, knocking off 60 mph in 2.6 seconds, with a top speed of 161 mph.

The Audi e-tron GT Leads in Overall Range
The 2022 Porsche Taycan and the 2022 Audi e-tron GT are aimed at high-performance driving and quick acceleration, and accordingly, their battery packs and overall ranges are only in the 200-250 mile range. The Audi e-tron GT gets 81/83/82 city/highway/combined with 238 miles of range. The 2022 Taycan manages at least 200 miles of range, but optional upgrades to the battery pack can increase this estimate to 225 miles. Efficiency on the base model Taycan comes in at 76/84/79 MPGe.
All vehicle pricing includes MSRP plus destination charges (set at the time of publication), and will be rounded to the nearest thousand.
