The Ford Fusion was a midsize sedan sold from 2006 until 2020. Ford marketed the Fusion as a five-passenger family sedan for driving enthusiasts, though most had fairly feeble four-cylinder engines instead of the optional V6. In 2010, Ford gave the Fusion a makeover, an updated interior, and other improvements. That same year, the fuel-efficient Fusion Hybrid and performance-tuned Fusion Sport joined the lineup. A complete redesign arrived in 2013, bringing the Fusion Energi plug-in hybrid model and available all-wheel drive. Later, Ford again offered the racy Fusion Sport, this time with turbocharged power and AWD. Following that redesign, the Fusion enjoyed brisk sales. However, the success was short-lived, as sedans steadily lost ground to crossover SUVs. As a result, Ford gave the Fusion a final update in 2017 before finally dropping the model from its lineup after 2020.
